Supportive and palliative care is a special approach to caring for people with serious illnesses. It helps to make them feel better by managing pain and other symptoms, providing mental and clinical support, and improving their quality of life. This care can be provided at any stage of the illness, along with treatments that try to cure the disease.
Services we provide
Discover a caring team of specialists devoted to working with your doctors and care team to help you and your loved ones:
- Symptom management: Relief from pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping.
- Emotional support: Help with coping strategies and emotional support for both patients and their families.
- Coordination of care: Working with your other doctors to ensure that all aspects of your care are coordinated.
- Advance care planning: Assistance with discussing and planning for future health care preferences.

Central Health, Travis County’s Hospital District, provides these specialty care services to members of the Medical Access Program (MAP) and MAP Basic after referral from a primary care provider.
