Pay doctors to maintain health, not treat illness

Houston’s Memorial Hermann Health System is working on overhauling the fee-for-service system that most insurance companies and doctors rely upon. This will mean providers will be incentivized for keeping patients healthy, rather than how many patients are seen; work that mirrors that of our Community Care Collaborative (CCC).
Charter school pitches specialized health care campus in Austin

Because Austin is the biggest city in Texas that lacks a school dedicated to preparing students for health care careers, IDEA Austin plans to launch a K-12 school that will offer students a pre-college program for just that. This program could start as soon as 2018.
Dell Medical to expand residency program by 2020

New funding from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has made it possible for the Dell Medical School to add 11 new resident positions, reaching the projected total to 317 medical residents hosted by 2020. These residents will then go on to work at Austin clinics and hospitals and help with Austin’s growing medical demands.
