Lawmaker unveils vision for Austin State Hospital

Senator Kirk Watson and other state leaders are showing a preference for Texas to partner with public universities and medical schools in order to modernize and remodel aging mental hospitals. These sort of partnerships would be cheaper and more effective than rebuilding already existing hospitals, and would apply to the Austin State Hospital, which is looking for funding in 2019.
Health clinic opens at Community First Village

Austin’s Community First Village celebrated the opening of a new on-site clinic that’s devoted to providing formerly homeless residents with adequate mental and primary health care services. The Topfer Family Health Resource Center will be operated by Austin Travis County Integral Care and CommUnityCare.
Dell Medical students pair with artists to paint mural

Dell Medical students paired with local artists to paint a mural at HOPE Outdoor Gallery over the weekend. The new piece of artwork is intended to help boost the connection between the new school and its first class and the Austin community.
