On the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson signing Medicare and Medicaid into law, a move as controversial as the Affordable Care Act today, 8.2 million Texans are enrolled in either of the programs. It’s now hard to imagine healthcare without them.
Senate to Vote as Soon as Monday on Defunding Planned Parenthood

The Senate is set to vote as early as Monday on a bill to defund Planned Parenthood at a Federal level, a bill that isn’t expected to meet the 60 votes needed to advance, as nearly all Democrats are against it.

Despite patient-care citations jeopardizing Lakeway Regional Medical Center’s Medicare and Medicaid funding in early April, a swiftly enacted correction plan has allowed the hospital to once again land in good standing. New leaders say the hospital has finally turned a corner.
