Austin’s Innovation Zone, a proposed health ecosystem anchored by the Dell Medical School and Dell-Seton Medical Center, is coming closer to realization as a planning team travels to Atlanta for inspiration from its thriving innovation district.
Cancer death rate has dropped again. But it’s still higher for men than women.

Although the cancer death rate in the U.S. has dropped by 25 percent since its 1991 peak, due largely to reductions in smoking and improvements in early detection and treatment, a significant gender gap remains. The cancer death rate is 40 percent higher for men than women.
City Council to make downtown Austin homelessness a priority in 2017

Austin Mayor Steve Adler has announced that homelessness will be a key priority for the city to tackle in 2017. Austin’s homeless population has hovered around 6,000 and 7,000 each year since 2013, and nearly half of this population can be found downtown.
