OUR JOURNEY TOWARDS EQUITY
Central Health is deeply committed to creating and nurturing a workforce culture that recognizes, honors, and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion. This journey began during the Civil Rights and Labor movements and was led by beloved icons like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Cesar Chavez.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, a landmark civil rights and labor law in the United States, outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin for employers with more than 15 employees.
Supplements to the law prohibit discrimination based on pregnancy, age, and disability. Sexual harassment and discrimination based on sexual orientation are now illegal under Title VII as well.
BOARD OF MANAGERS COMMITMENTS
In June 2021, the Central Health Board of Managers adopted Shared Commitments that publicly acknowledge that systematic racism is the root of health inequities and poor health outcomes in our community.

Travis County voters created Central Health to address health care inequities. To be effective in fulfilling our mission, we constantly strive toward equitable health outcomes.
