Katrina M. Daniel, RN, was reappointed to a new four-year term on the Central Health Board of Managers by the Austin City Council on Jan. 27. Daniel was originally appointed by the City Council to a vacated place on the board in 2009.
Daniel is Associate Commissioner of Insurance for the Texas Department of Insurance, Life, Health and Licensing Program. She began her career in health care as a registered nurse in Houston at Ben Taub General Hospital, one of the nation’s largest and busiest. Daniel also has a history of volunteer and community service with organizations such as the American Red Cross, the Austin Neighborhoods Council, the Highland Neighborhood Association and the Residential Design and Compatibility Commission.
Central Health is governed by a nine-member volunteer Board of Managers. Four of the members are appointed by the Austin City Council and four are appointed by the Travis County Commissioners Court. Both governmental bodies jointly appoint the ninth member. Reappointments and new appointments to the board serve four-year terms.
