Thank you to everyone who came out on November 22 to celebrate the Grand Opening of this landmark health center.
The Southeast Health & Wellness Center is now open, offering Phase I services including deltal, primary and specialty care! The first patient was seen on Monday, Oct. 13.
We are on schedule to open the Southeast Health and Wellness Center this fall and together with the help of the community will be accomplishing Central Health’s mission is to create access to health care for residents of Travis County who need it most.
Over the past week Community leaders, the Dean of UT Austin’s Dell medical school, Dr. S. Claiborne Johnston, and staff from Central Health and CommUnityCare put on their hard hats and hard soled shoes to tour SEHWC. They were met with the enthusiastic CommUnityCare team members that will be staffing the center and received information on the health services to be provided in Phase I.

The Southeast Health & Wellness Center is expected to open in the fall of 2014.
The Southeast Health & Wellness Center is designed and developed through an intensive community engagement process, with the final meeting held on March 1, 2014.
The new health center will be located at 2901 Montopolis Drive, previously home to the Veterans Administration Austin Outpatient Clinic. The goal of the center is to provide a facility where residents can obtain a full spectrum of health related services, including medical care, behavioral health services, nutrition and wellness assistance, and more. Central Health purchased the property in 2011.
Phase I of the Southeast Health & Wellness Center, opening this fall, will provide a range of healthcare services to support the community, including primary care, specialty care, behavioral health care, dental care, radiology, laboratory, and pharmacy. CommUnityCare will provide health care services.
In Phase II, a number of wellness services are being considered for feasibility and effectiveness, including health screenings, eligibility and enrollment services for health care coverage programs, exercise classes, outdoor activities, a cafe, fruit &vegetable sales, a community garden, a demonstration kitchen, nutritional counseling, and support groups.
