(Austin, TX.) — Central Health announced today selection of four developers to participate in the next phase of the Brackenridge Campus redevelopment.
Following the release of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) last fall, 12 development firms submitted proposals. The four firms were selected by a team of eight Central Health staff members and consultants. The four firms (in alphabetical order) are:
• Catellus Development Corporation
• Brandywine Realty Trust
• Howard Hughes Corporation/Cambridge Holdings
• Wexford Science and Technology
These development firms will be invited to participate in the upcoming Request for Proposals (RFP) process in late February or early March.
Central Health owns the 14.3-acre Brackenridge Campus, that since 1889 has been home to the community’s safety net hospital, including the existing University Medical Center Brackenridge (UMCB). As owner of the property that composes the superblock – six contiguous blocks located at 15th Street and Interstate 35 – Central Health plans to partner with a master developer to reimagine the century-old campus, including the necessary infrastructure and desired buildings.
